It was a tale of three periods in this crucial game between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Detroit Red Wings. The first period was all Flyers, pouring on a season-high 23 shots. Detroit pushed back in the second period, almost tying the game, but finishing the period no closer in goals. The third period was more about the Flyers hanging on, and having just enough for a huge 4-3 win.

• The Claude Giroux line had a so-so game. They accounted for one goal in the first period, and Brayden Schenn was hitting everything that moved, but they went off the boils as the game progressed. Ultimately the Pavel Datsyuk line had their way with them and a 70 percent Corsi.
• The Sean Couturier line had a better night. They held Henrik Zetterberg and Dylan Larkin in check in terms of possession, while Michael Raffl scored two goals.
• The Pierre-Edouard Bellemare line had a strong game. They had strong possession against the Brad Richards line, while finishing +1. Ryan White also delivered an incredible nine hits while adding six shot attempts.

Defense

• Mark Streit and Nick Schultz played a large number of minutes, and while they didn't have great possession, finished plus-1 with a point each.
• Shayne Gostisbehere scored what went down as the winning goal and finished plus-2 with positive possession. Most of that possession came on domination against the Richards line, however.
• It was an unusually quiet night for Radko Gudas, only four shot attempts and zero hits. He was also on the ice for all three Detroit goals and finished minus-2.
