By Kevin Durso, Sports Talk Philly editor

The roster is officially set. The Flyers have narrowed it down to the 23 players they will have for the start of the 2016-17 season.

There is a lot subject to changes, even in the next 24 hours, but for now, here are the 23 players on the roster listed by position and jersey number.

Now for how the Flyers reached this roster and what will change, even in 24 hours.

First, Jordan Weal's time on the roster will be short-lived. While the forward is listed, he cleared waivers on Monday and will be sent to the Phantoms as Roman Lyubimov returns to the Flyers. Lyubimov has a $275,000 difference in cap hit to Weal, so with Lyubimov off and Weal on, the Flyers were $113,000 under the salary cap.

That figure also comes with the movement of Scott Laughton to long-term injured reserve. Michael Del Zotto will also go on LTIR to start the season.

In addition, the Flyers will be without Brayden Schenn for the first three games of the season and Radko Gudas for the first six games as they serve suspensions.

And of course, there are a few new jersey numbers on the roster. By making the team, rookies Ivan Provorov and Travis Konecny were able to change their numbers from No. 64 and 63, typically reserved for prospect players. Provorov will wear No. 9, the number he wore in juniors. Konecny will wear No. 11.

Nick Cousins, who also made the team out of camp for the first time opted to change his number from 52 to 25. No. 25 was Cousins' number for the Phantoms last season in the AHL.

The Flyers will carry 13 forwards, six defensemen and two goalies for the season opener on Friday in Los Angeles. The Flyers and Kings face off at 10:30 p.m. on Friday night.
