The Flyers entered Thursday night with just two games remaining in the preseason. On Thursday night, they showed signs that they are ready to go for the regular season, starting in just eight days.

The Flyers scored three goals in the third period to beat the New York Rangers, 4-2, on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden.

The Rangers opened the scoring at 3:32 of the first, as a point shot by Dan Girardi was deflected by Pavel Buchnevich to give the Rangers the early lead.

That lead was short-lived, as just 27 seconds later, Mark Streit scored to even the score after taking a centering pass from Claude Giroux.

The game would remain tied until the eight-minute mark of the second period when Chris Kreider capitalized on a mishap by the Flyers defensively and lifted a rising shot over the shoulder of Michal Neuvirth to give the Rangers the lead again.

Through two periods, the Rangers held a 2-1 lead, but the Flyers had a slight edge in shots, 20-17.

The Flyers got an early power play chance in the third and capitalized just moments after the penalty expired. Travis Konecny lifted a cross-ice pass to Streit, who moved in along the wing and centered for Sean Couturier, whose tip-in on goal beat Henrik Lundqvist to tie the game.

The Flyers were back on the power play less than two minutes later and wasted no time taking advantage again. This time, Wayne Simmonds fed a perfect pass to Jake Voracek and he beat Lundqvist with a high, hard shot to give the Flyers the lead.

Midway through the period, the Flyers padded the lead. It was Konecny again, who raced in along the wing and fired a low shot past Lundqvist for his third goal of the preseason.

The Flyers were 1-for-4 on the power play and killed off both Rangers power play chances. The Flyers also outshot the Rangers, 31-26. Neuvirth made 24 saves in the win.

Konecny's two points brought his preseason total to six, most on the Flyers. Voracek and Streit also had two points in the game.

The Flyers close out the preseason on Saturday evening, facing the Boston Bruins on the road at 5 p.m.
