Sixers-Raptors: Game 18 Preview

By Matt Rappa, Sports Talk Philly editor

TORONTO — The Philadelphia 76ers (4-13) will look for their first road win of the season as they take on the No. 2 Eastern Conference-ranked Toronto Raptors (10-6) Monday evening at the Air Canada Centre.

Sixers big man Joel Embiid (rest) is out, having played on Sunday against Cleveland. Jahlil Okafor will ge the start in his place with Richaun Holmes providing back-up services. Meanwhile, point guard Jerryd Bayless traveled with the team, but his status is up in the air with a sore left wrist.

Last Meeting

The Sixers and Raptors last met in Philadelphia's second to last game of the season back in April. The Raptors emerged victorious, 122-98, despite DeMar DeRozan scoring only 10 points. The Sixers got 24 points on 7-for-12 shooting from Robert Covington and 13 from Nik Stauskas.

Travel Woes

The Sixers have fallen in each of their five road games this season, with their opponents outscoring them by a 19-point average margin, 114.6 to 95.6. They have dropped 21 straight road games overall, dating back to Jan. 27 of last season against the Detroit Pistons.

On the Road, For Now

The Sixers' matchup against the Raptors will be their only road game out of a 10-game stretch. Their last road game was on Thursday, Nov. 17, a 110-86 defeat to the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center.

Philadelphia fell 112-108 to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday, the final game of their nine-day, five-game homestand which began with two wins over the Phoenix Suns (120-105) and Miami Heat (101-94).

After their matchup against Toronto, the Sixers will return home for another four-game home stretch, starting Wednesday (Sacramento Kings), that includes a back-to-back on Friday (Orlando Magic) and Saturday (Boston Celtics) before wrapping up next Monday (Denver Nuggets).
