For the second straight week, a Flyers player is in the spotlight.

The NHL named Jake Voracek its first star of the week for the week of Dec. 5-11. Voracek had nine points in four games during the week, including six assists.

Voracek's week began on Tuesday when he scored the game-winning goal in overtime against the Florida Panthers. In the next two games at home against Edmonton and Dallas, he posted four-point games in each — one goal and three assists in both — becoming the first Flyer to have back-to-back four-point games since Eric Lindros in 1999.

Voracek didn't factor into the scoring on Sunday, but was a key part to prolonging the Flyers current nine-game winning streak.

After 31 games in the season, Voracek leads the Flyers in points with 32, which is tied for second among all NHL players. St. Louis Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko also has 32 and Oilers captain Connor McDavid leads the NHL with 39 points.

Last week, it was Flyers goalie Steve Mason claiming the first star honors with a 4-0-0 record, 1.71 GAA and .945 save percentage. The last time the Flyers had back-to-back weeks with first star came in 2012 when Ilya Bryzgalov took home the honors in two straight weeks.

The Flyers had an off day on Monday and will look to continue their win streak and stretch it to 10 on Wednesday night against the Colorado Avalanche.
