Former Sixer Hollis Thompson works out for Pelicans

The Philadelphia 76ers parted ways with one of their original "process soldiers" in early January, waiving forward Hollis Thompson. The 25-year-old out of Georgetown has been playing with the Spurs D-League affiliate, but was reportedly one of a few players working out for the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday.

Thompson signed with the Sixers in September 2013 and was a member of the Sixers on the first game of Sam Hinkie's rebuilding process that October. After playing nearly 28 minutes per game last season though, Thompson was averaging just over 18 minutes in 31 games this season, despite adding a three-point threat to the game.

In eight games with the Spurs D-League affiliate, Thompson is averaging 17 points and 5.4 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the floor and 48.4 percent from beyond the arc. If Thompson gets a roster spot with the Pelicans, he'll join a new impressive duo of Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins in New Orleans.
