Report: Sixers finalizing a trade to send Ilyasova to Atlanta

The Philadelphia 76ers are reportedly close to making their first deadline week deal. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Sixers are close to a deal that would send forward Ersan Ilyasova to Atlanta for injured center Tiago Splitter and two second-round picks.

The Hawks agreed to trade with the Philadelphia 76ers to acquire forward Ersan Ilyasova, league sources told The Vertical.

The Hawks will send center Tiago Splitter and a 2017 second-round draft pick via the Miami Heat to the Sixers, league sources said.

The Hawks and Sixers agreed on a swap of 2017 second-round picks, which ultimately will become the Golden State Warriors’ second-round pick headed to Atlanta, league sources said.

This'll mark the second time Ilyasova will be moved this season after the Sixers acquired him early on from Oklahoma City for Jerami Grant and the fifth time overall in the last 20 months. Ilyasova has provided Philadelphia with pretty consistent offensive numbers, averaging 14.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, but with how Dario Saric has been playing, the move makes sense. Ilyasova is set to become a free agent at the end of the season as well.

Tiago Splitter will likely never actually don a Sixers uniform. He hasn't played at all this season with a calf strain and only averaged 5.6 points and 3.3 rebounds in an injury plagued 2015-16 season. His contract is up after the season and is owed just about the same amount of money as Ilyasova. Wojnarowski's column on the trade indicates the Sixers intend to use Splitter, 32, as a mentor for their young centers, so it doesn't look like they'll waive him.

All in all, this looks like a pretty solid trade. The Sixers offense may or not be affected too much, but Bryan Colangelo got value for an expiring contract in the form of two second round picks. Not too shabby.
