The Philadelphia 76ers have nine games remaining in the 2016-17 season and they might be getting a front court reinforcement. After two games with the Delaware 87ers, center Tiago Splitter was recalled on Monday.

The Philadelphia 76ers today announced that the team has recalled Tiago Splitter from the Delaware 87ers of the NBA Development League.

Splitter was assigned to Delaware on March 21 as part of his return to play protocol and appeared in two games with the Sevens. On Saturday, he had eight points and eight rebounds against the Windy City Bulls.

Splitter was acquired by the Sixers on February 22 from the Atlanta Hawks and has appeared in 347 career games (153 starts) with San Antonio and Atlanta. He holds career averages of eight points and five rebounds in 19 minutes per game, while shooting 56 percent from the floor. Originally selected in the first round (28th overall) of the 2007 NBA Draft by the Spurs, the Brazil native spent the first five seasons of his career in San Antonio (2010-15). During the Spurs’ run to the 2014 NBA title, Splitter saw action in all 23 playoff games (18 starts), posting eight points and six rebounds per contest.

Richaun Holmes and Shawn Long have been getting the majority of minutes at center with injuries to Joel Embiid and Jahlil Okafor. It has not been announced whether Splitter will be in uniform when the Sixers visit the Nets in Brooklyn on Tuesday night to conclude their five-game road trip.
