Dario Saric’s heel injury described as plantar fasciitis

The Philadelphia 76ers have been hit with the injury bug all year long. From Joel Embiid's season being cut short to Nerlens Noel's knee injury, Jahlil Okafor's knee soreness and Robert Covington's meniscus tear, there hasn't been a time this year that they didn't have to deal with some adversity. They have been very cautious with their young, up and coming talent over the past few years, as they should be.

That being said, Brett Brown revealed prior to tip-off against the Nets on Tuesday that Dario Saric's sore heel injury is actually plantar fasciitis.

Plantar fasciitis is described by the Mayo Clinic as one of the most common causes of heel pain. It involves inflammation of a thick band of tissue that runs across the bottom of your foot and connects your heel bone to your toes. It's more common in runners and if ignored, it could result in chronic heel issues. The pain and inflammation can be reduced with over the counter painkillers, but can also recover with physical therapy or night splints that stretch out the calf muscle at night. Surgery is rarely ever an option with this type of injury.

Saric, 22, is on a 24 minute guideline against Brooklyn tonight, but with the way they've treated the other injuries, it's a bit mind-boggling as to why they don't just avoid risk and have him sit with just five games left.
