The Philadelphia Eagles held their first mandatory mini-camp of the offseason on Tuesday and while there are plenty of new faces from free agency and the draft, offensive lineman Jason Peters enters his ninth season with the team as their left tackle. In 2014, the Eagles inked Peters to a new five-year contract worth $51.3 million and heading into the 2017-18 season, the 35-year-old out of Arkansas wants to make sure he stays in Philadelphia for the remainder of his career as he approaches the final two years of the deal.

Early on in the offseason, reports surfaced regarding the Eagles asking Peters to take a pay cut, but nothing ever came of it and he was brought back on his pricey $10.45 million salary for this upcoming season. With Peters wanting to stay in Eagles green for the rest of his playing career, it now seems like the two sides could work out a deal to accommodate that and also help the team save some money.
Peters is signed for two more years with non-guaranteed salaries of $10.45 million and $10 million, so perhaps guaranteeing some of that money would eliminate the year-to-year issue that Peters mentioned, but it remains to be seen what the Eagles will do regarding their veteran left tackle.
This past season, Peters played in all 16 games for the Eagles.
