Report: Sixers interested in reuniting with Andre Iguodala

By Josh Liddick, Sports Talk Philly editor

The Sixers have made their intentions clear in the last months, especially as the regular season came to a close that they planned on looking into veteran free agents this offseason in order to better compliment their younger players.

One name has been rumored to be floating around ever since he decided to test the market instead of re-signing right away with Golden State. That would be Andre Iguodala.

Wouldn't it be something for Iggy to be reunited to the place he called home for eight seasons?

Well, according to Chris Haynes of ESPN, that dream might turn into a reality after he reported that the Sixers were one of the teams interested in the 33 year-old small forward.

Iguodala averaged eight points, four rebounds, and three assists for the Warriors this past season, while playing in 76 games, all coming off the bench.

Should Iguodala return to Philadelphia, it is likely he'll serve in a very similar role that he was in for most of his career in Golden State, especially with Robert Covington occupying the small forward role, who by the way, finished in fourth for NBA Defensive Player of the Year voting.

Perhaps the biggest negative surrounding Iguodala's potential homecoming to Philly would be his contract and it's very possible that the Sixers wouldn't want to lock up a 33 year-old player for more than a one or two year deal, even with the available cap space they currently have.

Adding Iguodala would be a solid addition, but may also prove to be a costly one in the long-term.

Still, it's an enticing thought, and pretty neat to see Iguodala and the Sixers officially linked once again.
