Report: Sixers to contact Knicks regarding Kristaps Porzingis

By Josh Liddick, Sports Talk Philly editor

According to NBA insider Adam Zagoria, the Sixers are looking to contact the New York Knicks in regards to trading for big-man Kristaps Porzingis.

Porzingis has been the subject to trade rumors all day on Tuesday it seems, as the league has shifted into a frenzy ever since the Sixers traded with the Celtics for the number one overall pick on Monday.

The Sixers, along with Phoenix and San Antonio have all made an effort to reach out to the Knicks wondering what they are possibly looking for in exchange for Porzingis.

The Sixers hold the first overall pick and in my personal opinion, are unlikely to part with the pick as they intend to select Washington point guard Markelle Fultz in the draft on Thursday night.

Porzingis is an interesting player because of his versatility and his ability to defend, play the post, and shoot from the perimeter.

While Philadelphia seems like a strange destination for Porzingis, his potential to play with Joel Embiid might be too good to pass up.

This may also be a sign that the Sixers haven't given up completely on the idea of Ben Simmons being the point guard of the team going forward.

It seems that Porzingis is not as interested in leaving the Knicks as much as the team is aggressively looking for suitors, which adds to the confusion of the way the franchise is being run.
