Markelle Fultz suffers ankle sprain against Warriors

The entire Sixers fan base went silent on Saturday night after No. 1 overall pick Markelle Fultz stepped on an opposing players foot, going down to the floor in pain and being helped off the court by teammates. How could one not fear the worst with Philadelphia's luck in the past years? Nerlens Noel missed his first season after tearing his ACL at Kentucky, Joel Embiid missed two seasons after being drafted with foot surgeries, Jahlil Okafor played 53 games before tearing his meniscus and Ben Simmons fractured his foot in camp and missed his entire first season.

Luckily, x-rays revealed an ankle sprain which is the best possible outcome. Shortly after the original diagnosis though, ESPN's Ramona Shelbourne reported that it was a high ankle sprain, but that has since been downgraded.

Safe to say we won't be seeing Fultz in anymore Summer League games and I'd be perfectly okay if the Sixers never participated in them moving forward. The good news is that Fultz's outlook with an injury like this shouldn't put his regular season debut in question. Low ankle sprains normally take 1-3 weeks to recover. The No. 1 pick took to Twitter on Sunday afternoon to make sure everyone knew he is okay.

Hopefully Fultz will be in that 1-3 week time range for recovery, but the Sixers are no stranger to the injury bug, so expect them to be extra cautious with their prized prospect from this year's draft as they have with other young players on their roster.
