Report: Sixers second rounder Bolden to play 2017-18 season in Israel

Summer League gave Sixers fans an opportunity to see some of the organization's young talent compete against other rookies and second year players over the past few weeks. Although we only got to see first overall pick Markelle Fultz play a small amount of minutes, the rest of the games gave the front office and fan base a glimpse at some promising prospects the Sixers have. One of those players was No. 36 overall pick Jonah Bolden. While some believed his performance could have earned himself a spot on the roster as a two-way player, it looks like the 21-year-old will be playing overseas next season.

Bolden was under contract with Red Star in Serbia for the 2017-18 season but as the tweet above indicates, his release from their team is being negotiated. In eight Summer League contests for Philadelphia, Bolden averaged 8.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. He shot 36.8 percent from the floor and 31.4 percent from beyond the arc.

In moving to Maccabi for the upcoming season, Bolden will get to be under coach Neven Spahija, who has a great track record as a coach in the Euroleague. He served as an assistant with the Atlanta Hawks for three years (2014-2017).
