Ben Simmons’ goal for the upcoming season: “The goal is to win”

Ben Simmons, who missed all of last season with a broken foot, spoke with the media on how he's feeling and his expectations for next season at Sunday's Summer League game.

"I'm good, I've been getting up and down in five-on-five and things like that. Just trying to get back to how I was playing and I've been doing well," Simmons said.

With Simmons now healthy and the Sixers trading up in the draft for highly touted combo guard, Markelle Fultz, it raises some question as to who will be the team's point guard. Simmons had this to say regarding his position on offense, "I think Coach [Brown] wants to start me at the point, but I think once we get into the flow of things, whoever gets the rebound is going. I think we're going to be a quick paced team."

Simmons looks to be the primary ball-handler since the plan is for him to bring the ball up the court in the half court game and he is a better rebounder than Fultz, so he'll be bringing the ball up in transition more often too. However, both Simmons and Fultz have shown in college that the strength of their game revolves around pushing the ball up the floor in transition. So having two players that can handle the ball off of defensive rebounds is going to be fun to watch.

Now with talent amassing around Simmons, the word playoffs has been floated around extremely often in regards to the Sixers, who finished dead last just a season ago. Simmons had this to say about his expectations for his team, "We have a great young team and guys who are willing to put in the work. I think the sky is the limit," Simmons said. "The goal is to win."
