Why LeBron James could join the Sixers in 2018

Over the course of the last decade, there hasn't been as much of an influential person, a more dominant NBA player than LeBron James.

LeBron has won championships, MVP awards, has changed the game of basketball, and has been the most superstar-caliber athlete in the NBA since Michael Jordan.

In 2018, the King makes a decision, which could be his final one of his career, and he could be leaving Cleveland for the second time.

It won't be as dramatic as "taking his talents to South Beach," but what if I told you LeBron would be taking his talent to another location?

What if I told you LeBron James, the King of Basketball, would become a Philadelphia 76er in 2018?

You might be thinking, "This is too good to be true."

But what if it's so good that's it is true.

It could happen, in fact, I am starting to think that LeBron heading to Philly is more likely than LeBron going pretty much anywhere else besides the Lakers.

At this point, it definitely seems as if LeBron's most likely destination in 2018 is L.A., purely because of what could surround him going into next season.

A young core of Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball. A proven center in Brook Lopez, and the possibility of bringing in superstar Paul George into the mix would almost definitely lure LeBron to the City of Angels.

Unless, there was another scenario that would tickle LeBron's fancy.

The L.A. core sounds interesting, however, the way the Western Conference has been heading in recent weeks, it just doesn't sound like LeBron would even want to go out West with the enormous talent and competition that makes it nearly impossible to go and with titles.

Ultimately, LeBron's ultimate goal at this point in his career is to win as many championships as possible until he decides that the league has gotten so young, it's time to hang up his sneakers.

This is why the Sixers would be the ultimate destination for LeBron in 2018.

The Sixers are young, exciting, and have the most potential out of any other team in the league.

They might not be in the zip code of securing any championships in the very near future, however, with a little bit of grooming and a proven star that knows what it's like to go all the way, there's no telling what the Sixers could do starting in 2018 at the earliest.

In recent weeks, #LeBronToPhilly has been trending on Twitter, especially since Ben Simmons tweeted at LeBron, and even before that, he was seen practicing with him.

It's no secret that the media over the course of the last two years has mentioned the Simmons' potential is linked to LeBron's game. A big forward who is most gifted as a facilitator and has the ability to take over a game.

LeBron to Philly would be the absolute perfect fit for the Sixers in 2018.

I know the perfect fit expression has been overdone in recent memory for the Sixers, because it seems as if there really isn't a perfect fit for this team.

But, LeBron taking his talents to the City of Brotherly Love would solidify the game that the Sixers are trying to build. He'd be able to help a team grow in ways that only Sam Hinkie had dreamt of before.

A roster of Markelle Fultz, J.J. Redick, LeBron, Simmons, and Joel Embiid is something that looks even more appetizing than the Lakers core.

In fact, with the East as bad as it is, and the influx of talent over to the West, the Sixers are among one of the very few teams that look to have a promising future for the next several seasons.

LeBron to Philly would guarantee the Sixers a shot at a title next season at the earliest, and could build the Sixers into a perennial championship powerhouse.

Some people wonder if LeBron going to Philly would mess with the process that Sm Hinkie was building, but let me just send you on your way with a little Josh Liddick perspective here.

What if:

Sam Hinkie started the "Process" to bring LeBron to Philly in 2018?

I know we give Hinkie so much credit and often compare him to God in many ways, but what if he knew that the Cavaliers wouldn't be able to keep up with the Warriors, and LeBron would find himself on the way out surrounded with the huge opportunity to play with a team that would be able to provide options at every position.

Normally for the Sixers, position battles are a hard thing to avoid when bringing in new guys. There seems to always be that "logjam" at a certain position.

But, LeBron would fit in as the small forward perfectly. I love Robert Covington as much as the next guy, but him over LeBron?

C'mon.

If the Lakers don't manage to get LeBron (which could happen, if PG13 stays in OKC following a good run), then the clear-cut choice would be Philly.
