Flyers sign Morgan Frost, Isaac Ratcliffe to entry-level deals

Though Ron Hextall's offseason to-do list has effectively been complete for several weeks now with the signing of restricted free agents, he took care of some additional business on Thursday.

The team announced that 2017 draft picks Morgan Frost and Isaac Ratcliffe have been signed to three-year entry level contracts. Coupled with Nolan Patrick's deal on July 17, the Flyers have now come to terms with their first three picks in this year's draft.

Frost, 18, was taken with the 27th pick, after the Flyers acquired that pick as well as Jori Lehtera and a conditional first-rounder in 2018 from St. Louis for Brayden Schenn. He's expected to return to the Ontario League's Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds next season.

Ratcliffe, the burly 6-foot-6, 200-pound left winger, was taken in the second round after the Flyers acquired that from Phoenix for picks in the second, third and fourth rounds. He's also expected to return to the OHL next season, but with the Guelph Storm.

Both players appeared at this year's prospect development camp in July, though training camp in September for them is not likely. Hextall has his early draft picks inked up, and can stay in cruise control for the rest of the offseason.
