Sixers’ Regular Season Schedule Released

By: Jesse Larch, Sports Talk Philly Staff

At 6 p.m. the NBA released the regular season schedule for the 2017-18 regular season.

After having three games on a national broadcast last season, the Sixers continue their rise to national prominence with 14 games scheduled to appear on national TV this upcoming season.

Highlighting the schedule is the Sixers overseas game with the Boston Celtics that will be played in London, England on Jan. 11. Just days earlier the Sixers will head to New York on Christmas Day to play the Knicks in a matinee to begin the NBA's annual slate of Christmas Day games.

The Sixers will tip-off their season on Wednesday, October 18 when they travel to Washington to play the Wizards for a nationally televised game on ESPN. The Sixers' home opener will be two days later when they host the Boston Celtics. The team will play 10 of their first 15 games on the road.

Of the 14 nationally televised games, three are against the Wizards, two come against the Los Angeles Lakers, and two come against the Milwaukee Bucks. Both of these two teams have had official and unofficial representatives criticize "The Process."

The Sixers will first play the Los Angeles Lakers on November 15 when they travel to the City of Angels to revive their rivalry from the early 2000's after multiple exchanges between Sixers' star center Joel Embiid and Lavar Ball, the father of the Lakers' prized rookie point guard.

The Sixers will meet with the Bucks for the first time on January 20. Bucks owner Wes Edens criticized The Process when he claimed that he would rather "trust the results." The first two games of the season series are not televised nationally, but the following two games will be.

Other key matchups include the Sixers hosting the defending champion Golden State Warriors on November 18, and hosting Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers on November 27 for the first of four meetings this season, with their March 1 meeting in Cleveland to be broadcast on TNT.

The Sixers will also play reigning MVP Russell Westbrook and his new teammate Paul George on January 28 with that game to also be broadcast nationally.

Sports Talk Philly and Sixerdelphia will have your Sixers coverage all season long.
