Colangelo: Embiid to participate in camp, Okafor not being shopped

Bryan Colangelo kicked off Philadelphia 76ers media day on Monday, addressing a number of topics surrounding the team heading into the season.

One of the obvious headlines is the status of Joel Embiid. The Sixers big man still hasn't been cleared for 5-on-5, but he will participate in some activities during training camp over the next few days.

The good news is that Colangelo believes Embiid is "on course" to be ready for the regular season.

Meanwhile, after being shopped around prior to the trade deadline and staying in Philadelphia, Jahlil Okafor hasn't made a whole lot of progress this offseason. The former Duke product paritally tore his meniscus at the end of his rookie year and had lingering issues last season, limiting his minutes as the season progressed even after Joel Embiid got hurt. Bryan Colangelo said Okafor has also not been cleared for 5-on-5, but has participated in 3-on-3. The biggest bombshell here is that BC indicated that he's not actively shopping Okafor.

Okafor joined Amy Fadool and Marshall Harris on CSN prior to taking the podium on media day to talk about how his change in diet to vegan helped him lose weight and progress in rehab. He indicated that its his health that will play a big part in his consistency moving forward on the court. Okafor mentioned that he was surprised to be at media day after being so heavily involved in trade talks, but he wasn't upset to be here and hopes to work hard to earn a spot on the court with the Sixers.
