Flyers Cut 18 Players, Roster Down to 36

With the split-squad games now in the books, the Flyers were in position to trim the training camp roster significantly. Training camp begins for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, so the Flyers needed to send players to participate there as well.

The Flyers announced a total of 18 cuts on Thursday, headlined by defenseman Phil Myers, who heads to the Phantoms, German Rubtsov and Carter Hart. Both Rubtsov and Hart head to their junior teams.

In total, three other players besides Hart and Rubtsov returned to juniors — Connor Bunnaman, Pascal Laberge and Ivan Kosorenkov.

In addition to Myers, 12 other players were sent to Phantoms camp. They were Nicolas Aube-Kubel, Radel Fazleev, Tyrell Goulbourne, Danick Martel, Carsen Twarynski, Mikhail Vorobyev, James de Haas, Mark Friedman, Maxim Lamarche, Reece Willcox, Leland Irving and John Muse.

The cuts on Thursday leave the Flyers with 36 players on the roster, including Nolan Patrick, Sam Morin, Robert Hagg, Travis Sanheim, Oskar Lindblom and Taylor Leier.

Kosorenkov, who was the only player in camp on a player try out, was released and not signed to an entry-level deal.

The remaining Flyers continue camp on Friday and have a game on Thursday night against the Bruins.
