Flyers Roster Update: Lyon to Phantoms; Bardreau, McDonald Injured

By Kevin Durso, Sports Talk Philly editor

The Flyers roster is nearly complete, even with four preseason games to go.

GM Ron Hextall announced the following roster moves on Saturday as the Flyers training camp roster continued to shrink in size.

The six players placed on waivers on Friday cleared and were assigned to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms — Will O'Neil, Mark Alt, T.J. Brennan, Corban Knight, Phil Varone and Greg Carey.

In addition, the team loaned goalie Alex Lyon to the Phantoms, officially leaving Brian Elliott and Michal Neuvirth as the two goalies on the Flyers roster, as expected.

Hextall also announced that Cole Bardreau and Colin McDonald are injured. Both players were not on the ice for the Flyers on Saturday — though Bardreau was supposedly skating with the Phantoms. Hextall said both have injuries that will keep them out for weeks. Bardreau suffered an upper-body injury in Brooklyn on Wednesday night. McDonald's is a lower-body injury suffered on Thursday in Boston.

The roster is now down to 26 healthy players, leaving just three cuts left to be made. The Flyers will practice again on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in Voorhees before taking the ice on Monday and Tuesday next week for a home-and-home against the New York Rangers.
