Merrill Reese’s call of Jake Elliott’s 61-yard game-winning field goal is incredible

Merrill Reese and Mike Quick have been together for quite a few memorable calls during Philadelphia Eagles-New York Giants games. They added a special new call to their reel Sunday.

With the game tied 21-21, Doug Pederson elected to have the Eagles line up for a 61-yard field goal after Carson Wentz completed a 19-yard pass to Alshon Jeffery with one second left in regulation. The Eagles radio duo teamed up for an electric call of the ensuing play:

It isn't quite as good as Quick screaming "Miracle at the new Meadowlands!," but this is a pretty awesome call nonetheless.

The fact that it took Reese, who has been calling Eagles games for four decades, a second to even react actually makes the call even better. Anytime a field goal of that length goes through the uprights, it takes a second for things to even register. Quick laughing in the background, which is often a reaction color commentators have in unbelievable plays like this, may be the best part of the entire call.

You get the feeling that whether Jake Elliott is with the Eagles for the long-run or just until Caleb Strugis returns, this is a call we're going to be hearing for some time to come.
