Eagles sign OT Will Beatty, lose Byron Marshall to the Redskins

Earlier on Monday the Eagles added veteran linebacker Dannell Ellerbe to the 53-man roster and waived CB Dexter McDougle. Hours after making the Ellerbe signing official the Eagles have added another veteran into the fold:

Will Beatty is a 32-year old tackle with the ability to play both on the left and right side. Beatty last started an NFL game in 2014, but like Ellerbe, Beatty is a former Super Bowl champion just like Ellerbe. Beatty won Super Bowl XLVI in 2012 with the New York Giants.

The Eagles were lacking depth at both the linebacker and offensive tackle positions after season ending injuries to Jordan Hicks and Jason Peters. Ellerbe and Beatty both improve the depth of the team immediately while also adding leadership to an Eagles locker room that is already abundant in that category.

Byron Marshall left the Eagles practice squad on Monday after signing with the Washington Redskins active roster. As a result the Eagles added safety Harold Jones-Quartey to the practice squad in his place.
