Embiid beats Towns on court, Instagram

The Philadelphia 76ers overcame a sloppy, turn0ver filled game on Wednesday night in Minnesota to steal a six-point win from the Timberwolves. Heading into the game, the matchup of Joel Embiid and Karl-Anthony Towns took center stage and at the final buzzer, it was Embiid that walked away with the win and the more impressive stat line.

The Sixers big man tallied 28 points and 12 rebounds to go along with a career-high eight assists while only turning the ball over twice and recording a +19 on the box score. Meanwhile, Towns finished with 19 points, 16 rebounds and four steals, but down the stretch he couldn't stop Embiid as the Sixers' center erupted for seven points in overtime to help Philadelphia win. Towns ended up playing an absurd 48 minutes, recording a -10 in the box score.

On Thursday, Embiid posted about the Sixers' win from the night prior on Instagram, featuring a photo of him finishing at the rim after a smooth Euro-step. Embiid's opponent, Kar-Anthony Towns decided to throw some shade at Embiid, but he stepped right into the lion's den as Joel's response was as epic as you can imagine.

"They call me 'Tro-el Embiid,'" Embiid said at shootaround Thursday. "So I don't let things go by."

We'll have to wait a while before the Sixers' next matchup with Minnesota. The Timberwolves visit Philadelphia on March 24.
