Joel Embiid wins second Player of the Week award

Tonight's match-up against the Knicks will be Joel Embiid's 44th game in the team's 54 games played. It will be the 18th time he's played in the last 19 games and the big man is on pace to play in 67 this season. If you told any Sixers fan that Embiid would play close to 70 games this season, most wouldn't believe you. In the midst of the most playing time during his entire basketball career, Embiid is still dominating. Philadelphia is 12-5 in the last 17 games in which Embiid has played. On Monday, he was awarded Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors for the second time this season.

Embiid helped lead the Sixers to a 3-0 record last week with victories over the Wizards, Pelicans and Clippers, averaging 26.7 points, 15.0 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in 30.1 minutes per game while shooting 48.4 percent from the field. He posted 27 points and 13 rebounds against Washington before dropping 24 points to go along with 16 rebounds in a win against New Orleans. On Saturday against the Clippers, in his second career back-to-back set, Joel played 34 minutes and finished with 29 points and 16 rebounds, out-dueling L.A. center DeAndre Jordan.

The 7-foot-2 native of Cameroon has scored 20+ and grabbed 10+ rebounds in four straight games, tying the longest streak of his career. It's also the longest 20+ point, 10+ rebound streak for a Sixers player since Clarence Weatherspoon had a five-game streak with those stats back in 1994, per Brian Seltzer of Sixers.com. Embiid has posted double-doubles in eight straight games, the most by a Sixer in 13 years.
