LeGarrette Blount signs with Lions, thanks Eagles on Instagram

The past week has been a busy one for the Philadelphia Eagles. They've restructured contracts with Lane Johnson and Zach Ertz, added players via trade and not surprisingly lost players in free agency due to limited cap room. One of their one-year additions from last season, LeGarrette Blount, was never really considered a candidate to return with the midseason acquisition of Jay Ajayi and the emergence of Corey Clement. The veteran power back has found a new home, agreeing to a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions. Over the weekend, Blount took to Instagram to thank the city of Philadelphia and the Eagles for a memorable, historic season.

Blount, 31, carried the ball 173 times for 766 yards and two touchdowns in the regular season while also catching a touchdown pass. The three-time Super Bowl champ tallied 130 yards and three touchdowns in the postseason, including a 14 carry, 90-yard outing in Super Bowl LII against his former team that included a touchdown.

While the Eagles seem set at running back now with Ajayi and Clement, Blount's downhill running style and veteran leadership will surely be missed.
