New Phillies ace Jake Arrieta praises Sixers, Joel Embiid

Newly acquired Phillies pitcher Jake Arrieta hasn't even seen the mound in red pinstripes and he's already showing love to the other teams in Philadelphia.

The 32-year-old right-hander was a guest on the Marks & Reese Show on SportsRadio 94WIP on Tuesday afternoon to talk about his new digs with the Phils. However, the Sixers were brought up in conversation and there was no shortage of praise from Arrieta.

"The 76ers have a chance to be really, really good. I was actually at the Mayweather-McGregor fight hanging out with Joel Embiid when we were on the road playing Philly."

Arrieta continued to talk about what he likes in Joel Embiid as a player, even uttering the three letters that will make a fanbase go insane.

"He is larger than life. To see what he can do as a 7'2" guy, his athleticism is off the charts. For me, I look forward to seeing him stay healthy, because if he does he has a shot to be an MVP."

Arrieta is set to make his Spring Training debut with the Phillies on Thursday, after the team acquired him for three years, $75 million.
