Phillies unveil retro maroon caps to be worn at 5 home games in 2018

As part of the Philadelphia Phillies' upcoming "Throwback Thursday" promotion for the 2018 season, the club and its Majestic Clubhouse Store unveiled on Friday the caps that its players will don with the iconic powder blue uniforms "on select Thursday home games" this season.

As the store notes, the new cap's front-displayed "P" is smaller than previous throwback styles. The cap also has no batterman logo to make it "more era correct (1984)." The club does not have control over the side New Era flag logo.

According to the their promotion schedule, the Phillies will wear their 1980s-stylized uniforms and caps on the following five Thursday home games as part of "Throwback Thursdays:"

  • April 19, 7:05 p.m., vs. Pirates
  • April 26, 1:05 p.m., vs. Diamondbacks
  • May 10, 1:05 p.m., vs. Giants
  • June 14, 1:05 p.m., vs. Rockies
  • June 28, 7:05 p.m., vs. Nationals

The club will not wear the uniforms on the following Thursday home games, noting that they do not play at Citizens Bank Park on Thursday in neither July nor September:

  • April 5, 3:05 p.m., vs. Marlins
  • August 2, 7:05 p.m., vs. Marlins
  • August 16, 7:05 p.m., vs. Mets

The exact restyle of the powder blue uniforms for 2018 have yet to be released. The caps, meanwhile, will be available for purchase at the store "in a few weeks," according to the store's tweet.
