Report: Trey Burton expected to sign with Bears

The last 24 hours have been busy for the Philadelphia Eagles. They are working to retain CB Patrick Robinson, plan to keep Jason Peters and shop Vinny Curry while also agreeing to a contract restructuring with Lane Johnson.

One player that the organization would have loved to keep but could not afford was tight end/Philly Special QB Trey Burton. The Eagles already have a No. 1 tight end in Zach Ertz and Burton was going to command No. 1 tight end money. The native of Venice, Florida looks to have found a new home already. He's expected to sign with the Chicago Bears once the new league year begins on Wednesday.

Burton joined the Eagles prior to the 2014-15 season as an undrafted free agent and caught a career-high five touchdowns this season, finishing with 23 receptions for 248 yards. His highlight play of the year is no doubt his involvement in the unforgettable Philly Special play on fourth down in the Super Bowl, a moment that saw the 26-year-old toss a touchdown pass to Nick Foles, putting them up 22-12 before halftime.

Trey Burton will forever be etched into Philadelphia Eagles history and now he'll get the opportunity to be a featured tight end on an up and coming Bears offense.
