Right now, as the Philadelphia Eagles get set for the 2018 NFL season, fans and players can relax now that the Eagles and Head Coach Doug Pederson have come to a contract extension agreement. In addition to Pederson's new deal as Head Coach, the Eagles have also extended the contract of Executive VP of Football Operations Howie Roseman.

Both team personnel members will be a part of the Philadelphia Eagles organization through at least 2022. After both men played integral parts in delivering the City of Philadelphia its first Super Bowl Championship ever, there's no surprise that these extensions came right at this moment.

Eagles Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie issued a statement on the extensions on Sunday afternoon.

“We are thrilled to solidify continuity in our organization’s leadership with the extensions of Doug Pederson and Howie Roseman, whose collaborative partnership helped deliver our city its first Super Bowl championship,” said Lurie. “Doug and Howie are committed to the success of our franchise by ensuring that we remain competitive, both in the short and long term. That unified vision for the future of our team is what gives us the best chance to win moving forward.”

Pederson and Roseman played crucial roles in guiding the Eagles to a 13-3 record last season, an NFC East Division title, a No. 1 seed in the playoffs, and of course, that giant Super Bowl LII victory over the New England Patriots in February.

Thanks to Doug Pederson, the Eagles were tops in the NFL in many categories. The Eagles were ranked first in the NFL in red-zone touchdown efficiency (65.5 percent) and point differential (+162). They were third in the league in points scored (457), third-down defense (32.2 percent), and fourth-down offense (65.4 percent). The defense, led by defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, was spectacular last year, finishing fourth in the NFL in takeaways (31) and turnover differential (+11).

Pederson wouldn't have been able to do his job if Howie Roseman hadn't set him up to succeed last year. Roseman acquired a multitude of players that played gigantic roles in the Eagles' road to a Super Bowl title. He acquired Nick Foles, WR Alshon Jeffery, DE Chris Long, RB LeGarrette Blount, CB Patrick Robinson, and WR Torrey Smith. He also completed trades to grab CB Ronald Darby, DT Tim Jernigan, and RB Jay Ajayi.
