Phillies Fall 7-1 to the Rockies, Jason Giambi Bats in All Seven Runs

This game…I don't know where to begin with this game. Actually, I do, it started with Joe Blanton being scratched about ten minutes from game time, and Kyle Kendrick would come in to start. Blanton said he felt some soreness in his elbow, which is a bit concerning. Welcome back, Worley?

Well, needless to say, Jason Giambi had one hell of a night. He homered in the first inning, second deck, to score Dexter Fowler and Troy Tulowitzki. Good start, Kyle. 3-0 Rockies.

In the third inning, Giambi struck again. He homered to right field to score Carlos Gonzalez. 5-0 Rockies.

Apparently. Kyle Kendrick was done after three innings, so Cliff Lee came in to pinch hit for him during this soggy game, and why not? The Phillies would not score a run, however, until the fourth inning thanks to the ground rule double hit by Raul Ibanez to score Placido Polanco. 5-1 Rockies.

Jason Giambi wasn't done just yet. He hit his third home run of the evening off of Danys Baez in the fifth inning to score Tulowitzki. 7-1 Rockies. Baez pitched two innings allowing three hits and two runs, striking out one.

Scott Mathieson pitched two scoreless innings striking out three. Michael Stutes pitched a scoreless eighth striking out two, so I'm assuming that his back is fine. Romero pitched a scoreless ninth striking out one batter.

The Phillies only combined for six hits tonight, but hey, they haven't hit that many since last Friday. Baby steps. Phillies are now 26-16.

They'll begin interleague play tomorrow, starting with the Texas Rangers at home. Roy Halladay (5-3, 2.21 ERA) going against C.J. Wilson (4-2, 3.38 ERA)
