Roy Halladay was great last night. The Good Doctor was on top of his game against the Cardinals. He allowed just one earned run, a second inning Carlos Beltran home run, over eight frames. Chase Utley put the Phils ontop in the eighth inning with a two-run shot to help secure Doc his sixth win of the season. Evening up his season record at 6-6, Halladay also took game one for the Phillies. Tonight, Cliff Lee (2-6, 3.78 ERA) will take on his former-Indians teammate Jake Westbrook (11-8, 3.76 ERA) in game two of this weekend series.

In Lee's last start, against the D-backs on Sunday, he got through eight four-run frames resulting in a no-decision. Lee surrendered three home runs to the D-backs on Sunday, bringing his ERA back up towards the 3.80's. All in all, Lee allowed eight hits, four earned runs while striking out five. The Phillies would go on to win this game with a Ryan Howard walkoff single in the ninth, withholding Lee from getting his third win on the year. Tonight he will seek for that third win as he takes on the Cardinals. Back on May 25th, Lee allowed three earned runs over seven innings against the Cardinals in a no-decision. In his career against the red birds, Lee is 3-1 with a 1.93 ERA.

Opposing Lee and the Phils will be righthander Jake Westbrook. Seeking his 12th win of the year, Westbrook is coming off of four straight wins. In his last outing, on Monday against the Giants, Westbrook threw seven innings allowing two earned runs on seven hits while striking out four. Westbrook is 3-0 with a 4.74 ERA over his last three starts as he enters tonight. Back on May 24, the Phillies tagged Westbrook for six earned runs on eight hits through 3 2/3 innings. Despite the bad line, Westbrook got off the hook as the Cards were able to tie it up later in the game. The Phils would inch over the Cards 10-9 in that game. In his career, Westbrook is 1-1 with a 5.88 ERA.
