Domonic Brown made some highlight-reel plays on Friday night, laying all out on one that made for an outstanding play. That may have helped bother a knee that has caused Brown plenty of trouble in recent months.
Brown sat out Saturday night's game, and again today for the series finale against the Nationals. Brown seemed to say in a Phillies.com report that his knee was not too bad, saying it was "a little sore".
The same report updates us little on the status of Placido Polanco. Polanco has not been disabled, but his back is too sore to play defense. Upon his Monday return from the disabled list, Polanco has started just one game.
Nate Schierholtz is currently on a rehab assignment in Lehigh Valley, and could take Polanco's roster spot on Tuesday. The Phillies could back-date Polanco's DL stint to his last appearance and reactivate him shortly after rosters expand on Saturday, should he be ready. The report says that Schierholtz expected to come back Saturday, but with Domonic Brown sore and Polanco unable to play, the Phillies could benefit from having an able-body.
