Poll: Who will win the 2012 World Series?

The 2012 World Series gets underway tonight in San Francisco with Justin Verlander and Barry Zito taking the mound for the Detroit Tigers and San Francisco Giants.

The Tigers have taken the American League by storm after being out of the playoff picture with two weeks remaining in the season. The Giants have played much of the Postseason with their backs to the wall, rallying from 2-0 and 3-1 deficits in the NLDS and NLCS.

Yesterday, I asked for our readers to give their pick for the 2012 World Series in a poll conducted via Facebook and Twitter. Out of 150 responses, here is what the results showed.

  • Tigers in 4 – 4%
  • Tigers in 5 – 32%
  • Tigers in 6 – 47.3%
  • Tigers in 7 – 3.3%
  • Giants in 4 – 0.0%
  • Giants in 5 – 4.0%
  • Giants in 6 – 7.3%
  • Giants in 7 – 2.0%

Here's what some of our writers voted:

  • Frank Klose – Tigers in 6
  • Christina Angelos – Tigers in 6
  • Kevin Durso – Tigers in 6
  • Rich Wilkins – Tigers in 5
  • Greg Vince – Giants in 5
  • Adam Gonsiewski – Tigers in 4

Also, a majority of our writers had the Tigers in the World Series back in February.

Rich – "Phillies vs. Tigers – Phillies in 5"

Steven Gallo – "Tigers vs. Diamondbacks – Tigers in 5"

Kevin Durso – "Phillies vs. Tigers – Tigers in 6"

Adam Gonsiewski – "Phillies vs. Tigers – Phillies in 6"

Christina Angelos – "Phillies vs. Tigers – Phillies in 7"

We'll see how this year's Fall Classic plays out. The first pitch of Game 1 is set for shortly after 8:00 tonight.
