MONDAY NIGHT SHOWDOWN

Well, not exactly a showdown. More like a meeting of 1-7
high school teams. In the midst of two mind-numbing seasons, the Eagles (3-7)
will match up with the Panthers (2-8) in primetime for their second Monday
Night game in less than a month. What could be better than putting this team on
national TV?

At the risk of repeating myself, this team stinks. One of
the tags I've often heard attached to the Eagles is that they have plenty of
players with talent, but they just aren't performing. And, for some time, I
agreed with this. Now, I'm left wondering if that was always wrong. Perhaps
this Eagles team is full of over-hyped players, guys that have given false hope
to so many fans. On the other hand, the reason for an under-performing group of
athletes could fall in the hands of the coaching. Andy Reid has lost this
locker room. He no longer has a voice over this team. After 14 years with one
team, Reid is in a rut. Honestly, it's a shame to watch. And Jeffrey Lurie is
doing him no favors by hanging onto him for one more week. Nevertheless, the
inevitable will last for one more game.

The only bright spot heading into this game for the Eagles
is their opponent. In North Carolina, the Panthers are not living up to Ryan
Kalil's pre-season prediction. Cam Newton has turned an incredible rookie
season into a surprisingly bad sophomore slump. There isn't much hope for the
remainder of their season, and probably not next year either. It's reason to
believe the team will come out swinging on a national stage, something to look
out for tomorrow night.

Without LeSean McCoy and Mike Vick, Bryce Brown and Nick
Foles will hold down the fort. It will be interesting to see how much the
Eagles run the ball with a bad defense-rookie QB combo, although we saw a large
percent of passing plays last week in Foles fist start. Perhaps Reid will learn
from the man-handling the team got last week from RG3 and the Redskins. Then
again, probably not.

The good news is, the Eagles won't be embarrassed like a
certain New York based team did on Thanksgiving Night.

The bleeding has to stop eventually, and I think it'll be
tomorrow. Carolina has a pretty horrible defense, so Monday will be a good
night for Bryce Brown and Foles to gain some confidence.

Foles will be sacked to oblivion. Trent Edwards may even get
some action.

Another disappointment. Panthers come out swinging and Cam
Newton runs all over this team much like RG3. Nick Foles thrown a pick and
Bryce Brown runs for a TD.
