John Lannan, Ricky Nolasco Square Off In Series Opener

Lannanstart
After a long Thursday break day, the Phillies are ready to get back to playing some baseball. The Phils are coming off of their first series win of 2013 after taking two of three from the New York Mets at home. The Phils routed the Mets 7-3 on Wednesday behind Kyle Kendrick and some big hits from the Phillies' lineup. Tonight the Phillies are in Miami, b****. Just kidding. But really the Phillies are in Miami tonight to open a three-game set with the 1-8 Marlins. John Lannan (0-0, 3.68 ERA) and Ricky Nolasco (0-1, 3.97 ERA) will get the start tonight in game one.

Despite a quality start on Saturday, John Lannan was given no run support and was struck with a no-decision. The lefty made his Phillies debut against Kansas City on Saturday, allowing three earned runs on five hits as well as striking out five in seven innings. Lannan was impressive in his debut and is looking to carry over his quality start into tonight's game. Backed by a red-hot lineup, Lannan will be taking on a team that has a team average of .217. In his career against Miami, Lannan is 3-5 with a 5.04 ERA (34 ER in 60 2/3 IP).

Ricky Nolasco is looking for his first win of the year as he makes his third start of the year. Over his last two starts, Nolasco has totaled 11 1/3 innings and has a quality start. In his last start, a no-decision against the Mets, Nolasco was tagged for three earned on six hits through 5 1/3 innings. He struck out three and walked three as well. As he looks to bring the Marlins back to life, Nolasco is backed by a good history against the Phillies. In his career, Nolasco is 8-5 with a 3.86 ERA (44 ER in 102 1/3 IP) against Philadelphia.
