Nix Homers, Roy Halladay Earns 200th Career Win in 2-1 Victory Over Marlins

In the final game of this three-game series against the Marlins, Roy Halladay was able to settle down and dominate against Kevin Slowey and the Fish.

The Phillies wouldn't put a run up on the board until the sixth inning when Ryan Howard doubled, and was brought home with an RBI single from Michael Young.

The Phils had multiple chances to score, such as in the fifth when they had runners on the corners and Chad Qualls came in for the Marlins. However, the inning would end with a double play off the bat of Humberto Quintero, leaving the game at just 1-0.

Doc Halladay was looking very strong this afternoon, and had a stretch from the fourth inning to the seventh inning where he did not allow a hit. He allowed just two hits prior to the seventh, walking none and striking out two.

After Justin Ruggiano singled in the seventh, Doc walked Rob Brantly. Later, Chris Valaika singled to score Ruggiano, tying up the ballgame at one.

Eight solid innings and 87 pitches would be all for Roy Halladay. He gave up just one run on three hits, walking one and striking out two.

In the top of the ninth with one out, Laynce Nix absolutely KILLED a baseball, sending it to the second deck in right field. 2-1 Phillies.

Jonathan Papelbon came in for the bottom of the ninth, looking to close it out and give Doc his 200th career win. Paps walked Placido Polanco to lead off the inning, but closed it out beautifully sending the Phils to a 2-1 win.

Tomorrow is Jackie Robinson Appreciation day, and the Phillies will be in Cincinnati starting tomorrow for a three-game series. At 7:10, Cliff Lee and Bronson Arroyo will square off.
