Doc Shelled In Series Finale With Marlins, To Have Tests On Shoulder; DL Likely

I'll be short, sweet and to the point about today's game. ROY HALLADAY AND THE PHILLIES GOT KILLED.

Roy Halladay got creamed for the second straight start and the Phillies were unable to mount anything to match the Marlins' 14 runs scored, 9 of which were against Halladay in less than three innings. Kevin Slowey, who had recieved little-to-none run support all season long, was backed up big time and earned his first win of the year going seven stong. Doc took his fourth loss of the year, but that's the least of his worries because after the game it was reported that Halladay will undergo tests on his right shoulder because he felt "soreness" in it. To make matters worse, Halladay admitted that he'd been pitching with a sore shoulder all season long.

“It’s not something that I had before,” Halladay said. “It’s something new this year. I felt good all spring. I had soreness in there and just wasn’t able to get rid of it.”

Halladay will undergo tests in Los Angeles later this week and will be examined by Dr. Lewis Yocum. Halladay noted that the soreness had subsided for a while, but had came back after his start against Pittsburgh on April 24th.

“I woke up and didn’t really think anything of it, just regular soreness,” Halladay said. “It has kind of progressed over the last two weeks or so.”

Halladay was shelled in his last two outings (including today's), allowing 17 earned runs in 6 innings (25.50 ERA) and has brought up his season-ERA to 8.65. The Phillies have been outscored 28-4 in his last two starts and it's likely that Halladay will miss his next start.

Ruben Amaro Jr. stated that it is likely that Halladay will head to the DL.

Great. Freaking. News.
