Phillies Look To Give Pettibone Another Win Against Marlins In Game Two

Pettiboner
Last night was an imrovement from the series from Hell in Cleveland. Kyle Kendrick was yet again solid in a seven-inning bout against the Marlins. KK registered his second win of the year last night as he allowed two earned on seven hits while striking out five. Bringing his ERA down to 2.42, Kendrick maintains the lowest ERA for Phillies' starting pitchers. The best part about last night, however, is that the Phillies were able to score with men on base. After securing their 13th win of the year and taking the opening game of this four-game set with Miami, the Phillies will look to back Jonathan Pettibone (1-0, 4.35 ERA) as he takes on Ricky Nolasco (2-2, 3.82 ERA) and the Marlins tonight.

Jonathan Pettibone earned a win in his second major leagueg start last Saturday against the Mets. The 22-year-old allowed three earned on seven hits over five innings. Pettibone also walked two and struck out four. Pettibone has not had a lot of trouble with hitters so far, as he has allowed 13 hits in 10 1/3 innings. Pettibone is looking to get some run support from his team just incase he doesn't cruise through the Marlins' lineup. It is Pettibone's first career start against Miami.

Ricky Nolasco is coming off of two-straight wins in as many starts after going 0-2 in his first four starts. Nolasco pitched seven strong against the Chicago Cubs Sunday, allowing three earned runs on four hits while walking and striking out two. Nolasco has one start against the Phils this season, back on April 12 he allowed just one run on one hit through seven innings, but took the no-decision. In his career, Nolasco has a 6-1 record with a 2.98 ERA at Citizens Bank Park and owns an 8-5 record along with a 3.73 ERA against Philadelphia all together.
