Michael Young of the Phillies: Red Sox “Want Him Badly; Yankees Interested

According to a report in the New York Post, the Phillies have two teams interested in acquiring Michael Young: the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. The Yankees and Red Sox have both been depleted by injury in their infields and Young is a versatile option. That could be why the Red Sox "want him badly", according to the report.

Trading Young may not come easily. In order to waive his 10 and 5 rights, Young had the Phillies promise not to trade him. Players in the major leagues with 10 years service with at least five years on their current trade earn no-trade protection. That would not preclude the Phillies from trading Young, should he agree.
