84th Midsummer Classic Ready To Take Place At Citi Field

All-stargame
Ninety-five games into the season and the All-Star game is finally here. With records already broken and surprises in the standings, the world's best will display their talents this evening in the 84th edition of the MLB All-Star game. With Citi Field as the host (the Mets last held the ASG in 1964 at Shea Stadium), the AL team headed by Max Scherzer (13-1, 3.19 ERA) will take on the NL team headed by Matt Harvey (7-2, 2.35 ERA).

Max Scherzer has certainly earned his first All-Star appearance and start during the first half of the season. Losing his first decision this past Saturday after starting off the season with an American League record-tying 13-0 record, the Detroit Tigers' number-two man will look to give the American League a head start towards home field advantage this offseason. With a 10.58 K/9 and a 0.98 WHIP, Scherzer is working on a career year this season.

Matt Harvey is shining in his sophmore season. The 24-year-old is 7-2 in 19 starts for the New York Mets this season, posting a 2.35 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP. Holding opposing hitters to a .196 average, fourth in the MLB, Harvey also has a 10.18 K/9 against hitters in 130 innings pitched this season. Harvey also leads the NL in strikeouts with 147. Harvey will look to give the National League team a good start as they look to extend their three-game win streak to four. The Mets' ace is also making his first All-Star appearance and start.
