Michael Vick Likely To Return For Eagles Sunday

Vick gameAfter missing the past two games due to a hamstring injury, Michael Vick appears poised to return to the starting lineup Sunday against the Giants at Lincoln Financial Field.

It seems all systems are go for Starship Seven to liftoff once again for the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday against the New York Giants

Michael Vick took all of the first-team reps for the Eagles at practice for the first time since injuring his hamstring against the Giants two weeks ago.

“He’ll be out there practicing and taking the reps,” offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur said Tuesday. “I wouldn’t encourage you to assume anything. Coach (Chip Kelly) talked about it, who the starter is depending on the health of the quarterbacks. He’ll be out there working [Tuesday], with Matt Barkley.”

The question becomes if Vick himself feels healthy enough to make a return, and he responded in emphatic fashion after practice.

“Absolutely. Without a doubt,” Vick said after practice if he is healthy enough to play if Nick Foles is unable to go. “You’re just going to get it out of me right now, huh? Might as well put it all out there.”

Foles struggled mightily against the Dallas Cowboys Sunday in the Eagles 17-3 loss at Lincoln Financial Field and suffered a concussion that could keep him out of action altogether. All signs are pointing to Vick returning under center with Matt Barkley serving as the team's emergency quarterback.

Vick dressed and served as the team's third quarterback against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but was inactive Sunday against Dallas.

The Eagles did pick up quarterback GJ Kinne who was with the team during the spring and training camp Tuesday to the practice squad.

As recent as last Thursday the 12-year veteran said that his injury was worse than he anticipated but told reporters Tuesday that the knot in his hamstring didn't feel as tight.

“Kinda-sorta. It’s going away, though," Vick said when asked if he's feeling back to normal. "It’s progresses very quickly, gotten better each and every day, and I just don’t want to lose sight of what’s gotten me to this point,”
