Michael Vick To Test Hamstring At Full Speed Friday

Vick Practice 1

For the first time since injuring his hamstring October 5th Michael Vick was a full participant in the Eagles only practice in pads during the week and appears on the verge of returning.

Michael Vick was listed as a full participant in Wednesday's Philadelphia Eagles practice which is a milestone in it's own right in his road back from a hamstring pull suffered three weeks ago against the New York Giants

Wednesday is the only day of the week where the Eagles practice in full pads and this is the first time Vick was not limited during such a practice since the injury.

All signs point to Vick making his return Sunday against the Giants at Lincoln Financial Field, but Chip Kelly has yet to name a starter because he prefers to see how Vick's recovery goes the rest of the week.

“The biggest test for him is, ‘How does he bounce back? Where is he from one day to the next day in where he is?’” Kelly said. “I can be honest with you, I don’t think he ran 100 percent. He wasn’t running full sprints out there [Tuesday] in practice, but he looks like he’s progressing.”

The 33-year old Vick though has other ideas and has yet to test his hamstring at full speed.

“Not yet,” he said at his locker after practice Wednesday. “Friday. Friday’s a big day for me.”

Vick has missed two games since pulling his hamstring October 5th at MetLife Stadium and Nick Foles made two starts in the wake of Vick's injury. Foles however is unlikely to be available Sunday as he has yet to undergo the baseline tests as part of the new NFL concussion protocol.

“Nick is doing better,” Kelly explained. “He has to go through a set protocol of when he’s allowed back. He’ll have to see an independent [neurologist] before he’s allowed back, but in talking to him he said he feels like he’s doing better.”

Elsewhere on the injury front Foles did not practice nor did cornerback Bradley Fletcher who is recovering from a shoulder injury and neither did Jake Knott who is dealing with a hamstring.

Patrick Chung, Donnie Jones, Jason Peters and Cedric Thornton were all limited Wednesday.
