LeSean McCoy: FedEx Ground Player of The Week

McCoy SnowingLeSean McCoy dashed through the snow to the tune of 217 rushing yards against the Lions Sunday and was awarded week 14's FedEx Ground Player of The Week.

If FedEx delivered on Sundays, their planes, trains and automobiles would likely have been grounded in the unlikely onslaught of snow that fell in Philadelphia last Sunday, but it had no effect on Eagles running back LeSean McCoy.

McCoy's franchise record 217 rushing yard performance against the Detroit Lions in the Eagles 34-20 win played in snow covered Lincoln Financial Field has earned the 25-year old this week's Fed Ex Ground Player of The Week Award.

In addition to surpassing Steve Van Buren's Eagles franchise single game rushing record, McCoy also scored two second-half touchdowns of 40 and 57 yards.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame put McCoy's jersey and cleats he wore on the field which was covered by eight inches of snow Sunday on display this week but this isn't the first time FedEx has awarded McCoy the weekly award.

This is the second-time this season and fifth-time in McCoy's career that he has received this honor.

McCoy also earned FedEx Ground Player of the Week awards for his 120-yard, three-touchdown performance against the Lions in 2010, a 122-yard, two-touchdown performance against the Rams in the 2011 opener, a 185-yard game against the Cowboys in 2011 and a 184-yard game against the Redskins this year in the opener in Landover, Md.

McCoy leads the NFL with 1,305 rushing yards and 1,744 yards from scrimmage.

The Eagles travel to Minnesota this weekend to take on the Minnesota Vikings and Adrian Peterson who said Friday that he expects to play in spite of not practicing either Wednesday or Thursday this week due to a foot sprain suffered in week 13 against the Baltimore Ravens

Drew Brees won the FedEx Air Player of the Week over Peyton Manning and Josh McCown. Nick Foles has won it twice this year.
