Michael Vick Discusses DeSean Jackson’s Future On Mike and Mike

Vick JacksonMichael Vick weighed in on the ongoing DeSean Jackson saga in Philadelphia this morning in a radio interview.

Jets quarterback Michael Vick joined Mike and Mike this morning on 97.5 The Fanatic and discussed his friend and former teammate DeSean Jackson.

Jackson of course is on the verge of likely being traded or released by the Eagles, whom Vick spent the last four seasons with as a teammate before inking a one-year deal with the Jets on Friday.

"Chip Kelly is a leader. I think you have to understand Chip Kelly to know what type of person he is and be around him. DeSean is not a bad person by any stretch, but certain organizations want things done a certain way," Vick said.

"DeSean is a very productive player and everybody has a lot of respect for him, but at the end of the day, Chip Kelly's decision in what he wants to do is his decision. Who knows why internally — I don't sit in on the conversations with him and the GM and the other coaches.

"I know DeSean's very dynamic and the entire league loves what he brings to the table. But, you know, maybe we see something that Chip don't see."

Some believe that Kelly is in the process of crafting a locker room culture that he does not believe Jackson fits into, in spite of the six-year receiver coming off of a career year in which he hauled in a career high 82 receptions for a career best 1,332 yards and tied a career high nine touchdowns.

"I don't question it. If it does happen for DeSean, it's something he has to embrace and something he may have to learn from, depending on whether he wants to leave or not," Vick said. "But regardless of what, I'm gonna support him and he's always been a great friend of mine and a great football player and I think highly of him. I give him the utmost support."

Jets owner Woody Johnson admitted that his team is interested in Jackson should the Eagles make him available by releasing him, and would explore trading for the mercurial receiver.

Could a reunion of Vick and Jackson eventually wind up in the cards?

The quarterback and receiver combined for 16 receptions for 297 yards and two TDs in the first two weeks of the 2013 season.
