Report: Eagles Among Final Two Teams For Jairus Byrd

Jairus Byrd 2

Jairus Byrd to the Eagles isn't a new development by any stretch of the imagination, but it may be closer than ever to actually happening.

It was reported earlier that the Eagles had contacted Byrd's camp in advance of free agency opening at 4pm today, but now it is reported that the Eagles are one of the final two teams standing in the Byrd sweepstakes.

According to a report from Dianna Marie Russini of NBC Washington, the Eagles and the Washington Redskins are the only two teams left competing for Byrd. Many teams likely have been scared off by his $9 million price tag and hopes to fetch a deal with upwards of $20 million in guarantees.

If the Eagles have the understanding that it has come down to either them or the Redskins for Byrd's services, it's entirely possible that could be the impetus to up their offer to keep Byrd from landing within the division.

The Eagles certainly are in need of bolstering the secondary and this free agency class represents an ideal opportunity to do just that.
