A.J. Burnett and Phils Look For Series Win In Arizona

Burnettdodgers

The Phillies made an amazing comeback yesterday in their 6-5 win over the D-backs. Led by a four-run eighth inning highlighted by Cody Asche's 2-RBI double. Cliff Lee went six innings allowing five runs (three earned) en route to the no-decision. With their second comeback in two nights (this one being successful), the Phillies are now back at .500 (12-12). They will go for the series win today as A.J. Burnett (0-1, 2.73 ERA) gets the ball against Brandon McCarthy (0-4, 6.23 ERA) in the finale.

A.J. Burnett is coming off of a quality start against the Dodgers on Tuesday. In 6 2/3 innings, he allowed six hits, two runs, one walk and struck out five. In his last two starts, Burnett has a 1.32 ERA and has struck out 10 hitters. In his career against the D-backs, Burnett is 3-3 with a 4.93 ERA.

Brandon McCarthy has struggled to maintain a strong start this season. He is coming off of a loss against the Cubs where he went five innings allowing three runs (one earned). McCarthy has lost 4 of his 5 starts and has yet to find his groove. He will look to get it back on track against the Phillies, a team he has one career start against – a scoreless, eight-inning no-decision.
