Report: Jonathan Papelbon and Howard Eskin Had To Be Separated In Phillies Locker Room

Longtime and sometimes controversial Fox 29 Sports Anchor Howard Eskin and Phillies closer Jonathan Papelbon may have gotten into a scuffle, according to a report.   The Phillies blog Macho Row caught wind of some exchanges on Twitter that puts together an interesting storyline.

The issue apparently began after Eskin reported last week that Jonathan Papelbon's lack of availability against the Mets last Sunday was due to Papelbon being out late:

One who took exception to this was Ashley Papelbon, who denied that Papelbon was out late and insisted that he was with her in bed.  Mrs. Papelbon responded to a fan asking if they were out with Jacoby Ellsbury's family.

Then, Macho Row had a couple tweets from Ant Scaramuzzi, who protects his tweets.

Whoa. Eskin and Papelbon just got into a heated verbal argument by the Phils dugout. Both had to be restrained.

Paps went up to Eskin & said something. Eskin said so etching back and Paps was escorted away by PR guy and Eskin was held back by security.

Scaramuzzi, according to his resume posted on a Tumblr blog, is a Phillies employee.

Separately, Eskin seems to have verified the encounter after a fan tweeted Eskin that he has his "idle" (sic):

Eskin has been known to ruffle some feathers in the past, so this is nothing out of the realm of possibility.
