One of the longest tenured Flyers is on his way out and a former Flyer has returned.
The Flyers made noise on Monday afternoon by trading forward Scott Hartnell to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for forward R.J. Umberger and a 2015 draft pick.
Hartnell had an up-and-down career with the Flyers, playing in seven seasons with the Orange and Black. He scored 157 goals over his seven seasons and added 169 assists for 326 points in 517 games.
In 2013-14, Hartnell had 20 goals and 32 assists for 52 points. That followed an 82-game season where he posted career-highs in goals with 37 and points with 67. Hartnell had also struggled through the 48-game, lockout shortened season in 2013, scoring just three goals and added eight assists for 11 points in 32 games.
Umberger started his career in Philadelphia, playing his first three seasons with the Flyers. In that time, he scored 49 goals and added 67 assists for 116 points in 228 games.
He also shined in the 2007-08 playoffs, scoring 10 goals and adding five assists in 17 games in the Flyers run to the Eastern Conference Final.
Umberger played six seasons in Columbus after being traded there in 2008 for two draft picks. With those picks, the Flyers drafted Luca Sbisa and Marc-Andre Bourdon.
In 2013-14, Umberger had 18 goals and 16 assists for 34 points in 74 games. Umberger's career year in 2010-11, scoring 25 goals and adding 32 assists for 57 points in 82 games. In Columbus, Umberger scored 120 goals and had 130 assists for 250 points in 445 games.
