Preseason Week 3 Preview: Eagles vs. Steelers

For the first time since January, the Eagles play a game on their home turf.

The Eagles continue to have a lot to prove in the final two games before the regular season begins. But Thursday night's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers may shed some light on the Eagles roster breakdown as they head into Week 1.

The Week 3 meeting between the Eagles and Steelers is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m.

For one, the Eagles have played without their top two wide receivers for most of the preseason. Riley Cooper will finally make his debut in game action on Thursday night. Jeremy Maclin will also play on Thursday after missing last week's game against the Patriots.

The Eagles also added a new running back and kicker during the week, and both will see time on Thursday. Cody Parkey, acquired from the Colts on Wednesday, will compete with Alex Henery for the kicker spot. The Eagles also grabbed running back Kenjon Barner from the Panthers on Tuesday.

Additionally, Nolan Carroll gets his first chance at game action with the Eagles after missing the first two games with injury after performing well during team drills at early practices.

The Eagles defense is looking for a rebound game. The absence of Carroll and Cary Williams last week hurt the team. In two preseason games, the Eagles have combined to allow 76 points. Perhaps another week of work, and the return of several projected starters on both sides of the ball, will change that.

The Eagles also bid for their first win of the preseason after losing each of the first two preseason games by a touchdown.

Injury Report: Chris Polk remains out as does Jake Knott. New to the injury list is 2014 draft pick Josh Huff. Huff suffered a shoulder injury in Friday's loss to the Patriots. Watkins is still battling a hamstring injury. Brandon Boykin and Cary Williams are also out for precautionary reasons. Brad Smith and Julian Vandervelde round out the injury list.
